####Landowner Tags When it comes to hunting limits, all hunters know that joy and excitement that comes when they obtain permission to hunt a species they’ve been preparing years for. The Landowner Preference Program exists to encourage and support landowners who protect wildlife habitats and help increase wildlife populations, as well as decrease hunting pressure on public lands by hunting on their own private land.

Colorado Wildlife Habitat Program

The Colorado Wildlife Habitat Program (CWHP) is a completely voluntary, incentive-based program that encourages private landowners to help achieve strategic wildlife conservation and public access goals. Landowners who choose to participate will receive a grant to assist with their efforts. If you’re interested in protecting wildlife habitat on your property, and providing recreational access for hunters and fishers, this may be the program for you.

These are the priorities set by the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission for 2019: Public access for hunting, fishing, wildlife viewing Big game winter range and migration corridors Protecting habitat for species of concern (specifically those Species of Greatest Conservation Need, as identified in the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Statewide Action Plan) Riparian areas and wetlands Landscape-scale parcels and parcels that provide connectivity You can learn more about these priorities, and how you can be a part of this program, here.
